The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
