Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
